Columbus Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Tuesday night, April 11th, after victim’s girlfriend reports finding her boyfriend dead in their home.
Muscogee County Coroner, Buddy Brian, pronounced 32-year-old Jason Boykin dead at 11:50 p.m. from a gunshot wound. His body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy.
Brian reports that Boykin’s girlfriend came home from work sometime after 11 p.m. to find Boykin dead in the kitchen after yelling that the stove was left on.
As of now, no one has been arrested in connection with Boykin’s murder and no suspects were named or described in the release.
Boykin’s death is the sixth homicide of 2017 in Columbus. He was killed after 44-year-old Dudley Jones, Jr., who was shot on Ticknor Drive on Saturday, April 1st. No suspects have been found in either shooting.
