Lex Register, Sophomore, April 11, 2017
On Tuesday, April 4th, 2017, the Harris County track team had a meet at Harris County High at 4:00 PM. We came in first overall in our events. We competed against Columbus, Lanette, and Northside.
I interviewed four different boys on the track team. They were Davion Mahone, Morris Pipkins III, DJ WysinGer, and Anthony Wortham. The first question I asked the team members was, “What are your expectations for your track meet on Tuesday April 4, 2017?”
Both Davion Mahone and DJ Wysinger said, “To come in first place overall and for everyone to do their best.”
Anthony Wortham reported, “ Really just to beat every team we can get to and get our teamwork better along with our handoffs.”
The second question I inquired about, “What events do you compete in?” I received a few different responses.
Morris Pipkins III sated, “ I compete in hurdles, long jump, and high jump.”
Davion Mahone also competes in long jump. DJ Wysinger competes in the 4×1,100, and 200. Anthony Wortham runs the 4×1 and 4×4.
My last question was, “Why are you interested in track?”
Davion Mahone reported, “Because it’s fun and I’ve been doing it for quite some time so I’ve gotten really good at it.”
Morris Pipkins III stated, “Because it’s easy and I’m good at it.” DJ Wysinger said, “It just gives me this release from all my stress when I run.”
I hope everyone comes out to attend the next track meet located at Brookstone Invitational on April 8th, 2017, at 9:00 AM. We hope to see you all out there supporting our tiger runners!
